Collaborations with
Andrew Beeton

Music is my brother Andrew's sacred art. He is too orthodox ever to do it for money or in a grand venue or with too much attitude, so he practices his devotions at night by hiding out with one of his many guitars and guitar-playing friends.

Despite this, and the additional fact that we haven't lived in the same city since we were kids, I have managed to coerce Andrew to collaborate with me on several projects. These collaborations have resulted in fights, guilt, delays, missed or premature flights, and an occasional finished work. After we're speaking to each other again we find we really love the results.

Update: Andrew reports that the demon of rock and roll has recently possessed him to leave his room and perform on stage with his new band Rock Quarry.

Songs

Peace Medley © 1986 Andrew Beeton
I created a mock music video for this work which was later used in the Desert in the Garden

Life Medley © 1991 Maija Beeton Andrew Beeton
I wrote this song in Stockholm, then recorded it a capella and sent Andrew the tape, after which he wrote the accompaniment in Toronto.

Too Much Coffee © 1995 Maija Beeton (and hopefully Andrew Beeton soon)
I wrote this song in Los Angeles last May for an animation project. Again, I sent a tape of the vocals to Andrew in Toronto. I've finished the animation but I'm still waiting for him to send me the song with completed orchestration. He'll do it.
