Dino Island
(In case you were wondering, it's pronounced 'dy-no".)Location: Sony MovieGlide Theatre - Ridgefield Park, New Jersey
(ATTRACTION NOW CLOSED)Venue: Cabin (with Sony Hi-Def video projection) Motion Base and Programming Software: Thomson Venturer 3-DOF Film Production: Ex Machina for Iwerks A new volcanic island appears, and for some reason it has dinosaurs on it. The second of four off-the-shelf ridefilms I programmed for the Sony Theater in Ridgefield Park. Like the other three, Dino Island is available for licensing and might show up anywhere (but only the Sony MovieGlide used my ride program).
Watch for: the pterodactyl canyon fly-through sequence. If you look to your left you'll see the shadow of your vehicle (see Trivia) being carried by the big bad bird. Afterward, you can break up into smaller groups and discuss the feasibility of this idea. (Tip: a simple experiment with a sparrow and a coconut may help settle the argument.)
Trivia: The "Landmaster" vehicle from the '70's apocalypse flick Damnation Alley appears in the preshow as the vehicle of choice of the "Earth Science Team." (I think the Landmaster and Paul Winfield are the only stars of that film still working today.)
