The big unanswered question about the "alien autopsy" is
"Who Could Have Done It"?

Well, here are fourteen other autopsies,
so perhaps the answer is
"Who Couldn't"?

Some of these autopsies are better than the original, some aren't. Some were done for movies or television, others were done by private individuals just for fun. Some remain anonymous to this day. The point is, alien autopsies are far from impossible to create!

Steve Johnson - six autopsies and counting!
XFX's original alien

Steve Johnson's original Roswell alien - not actually a recreation, it predates the "alien autopsy" video by over a year.

However, copies of this alien were available for sale to the public via The Sharper Image catalog - and we know they sold at least two! (See below.)

After the "alien autopsy" aired, Steve did this re-creation for ABC's 20/20 show. Actually, it wasn't just a re-creation, it was an improvement on the original in every way.

Soon after, Steve did yet another for Scientific American, bringing his lifetime alien autopsy total to three. Or six if you count the three other recreations that used his Roswell alien!

Internet Hoax

Not long after the original "autopsy" hit the airwaves, these pictures showed up anonymously on the Internet. There's Steve's mail-order alien - the towel around his tummy hides the fact that the catalog version has no organs to autopsy!

Penthouse pics

Penthouse Magazine published photos in September 1996, claiming them to be "real" photos of the Roswell alien. It didn't take long to discover they actually were photos of Steve's Roswell alien on public display at the International UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico.

The Pandora Directive from Access Software.
Whaddaya know - they bought Steve's alien, too!

Autopsies 'round the world ...

Twins FX

Twins F/X Group (Erik & Karl Gosselin) in Quebec. This very impressive duplication of the original "autopsy" was an out-of-pocket demo just to show it could be done.
Total cost? $2000

German Autopsy

German FX re-creation - very low budget, but notable because they did their entire autopsy in continuous, unedited takes.

A Brazilian TV show broadcast a "new" autopsy video ... but then the host of the show walked into the scene, thus revealing the gag - the "video" was actually a live re-creation in the studio.

Creature FX in the UK did this one for a film called The Uninvited. Okay, it's not an alien, but it's a darned good autopsy!

Assorted autopsies ...

The Sci-Fi Channel's "Roswell: Cover Ups & Close Encounters" version

The Discovery Channel's "UFO's: Down to Earth" re-creation.

Davis Dental Supply - a key supplier of materials to the FX industry - built this autopsied alien for a trade show exhibit.

And it seems the Fox Network just
can't have too many alien autopsies ...
